e-pILS was launched in 2022 and uses the same core curriculum as pILS, which was launched in 2007. Around 17,000 professionals are trained in PILS every year. It is the ideal course for healthcare staff who need to develop their skills further than Basic Life Support, but do not need to train in Paediatric Advanced Life Support
The PILS Course is appropriate for a range of Candidates including doctors, nurses, paramedics, ODPs, health visitors, school nurses, midwives, cardiac technicians, resuscitation officers, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals, ambulance technicians and medical and nursing students.
This course will take place in our SMaRT academy, Office 1, Kingston Court, Walsall Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 0HQ.
The course runs from 0800-1200hrs (or occasionally from 1300-1700hrs).
The e-pILS course combines half a day of e-learning with half a day of face-to-face learning. Candidates are free to complete the e-learning in their own time before the face-to-face session. The face-to-face session focusses on skill stations, recognition and management of the deteriorating patient and cardiorespiratory arrest simulations.
Before the course, you will be registered on our Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access pre-course course modules that will prepare you for your face-to-face session, and you will be asked to complete a pre-course multiple choice question (MCQ) paper.
You will receive your course manual at least two weeks before the course. Candidates are expected to read the manual in preparation for the course.
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and is guided by the assessment forms provided for each core skill. You will receive copies of the assessment forms in an email prior to the course.
Successful Candidates receive a Resuscitation Council UK pILS provider certificate, which is valid for one year.
